Joining the local gym in the early 1990's, "just to lose weight and get fit" was where I recognized the the effect weight training had on my then overweight body.

I loved the discipline, dedication, and drive weight training gave me, and the amazing results I achieved. To cut a very long story short, I trained and studied everything I possibly could in the industry, qualifying after one and a half years of study, (not a 6 week online course), as a Gym/Fitness, Aerobic, Circuit, PT, and Box-a-cise Instructor. Oh yes, I was hooked on the Gym! Even my only son Cameron, was involved, sitting in the foyer of the Gym eating his Weet-Bix while Mum took the 6.00am circuit class! Yes, back then you did what ever you could to get a foot in the door, so as a single Mum, my boy had to accompany me to work before school!. Cam is now 27, and loves the Gym and his training.

Not long after this, working and Managing the Gym Floor in Wantirna, I stepped on stage at 54kgs in my very first Bodybuilding Competition receiving Masters Figure Victorian Title. Not too bad for a Mum at 43 years of age, who was so previously depressed at weighing over 80kgs. The Gym sure did change my life, One more comp and that was it for me. My role was then training and motivating other women to compete, which I did for many years and still do to a degree.

Teaming up with Craig Lucas, fellow Gym Instructor and Bodybuilder in the Rocco Oppedisano days, we opened a small gym in Ferntree Gully, ran our own Bodybuilding Show in Bendigo for five years, and continued training and preparing many competitors for competitions, specializing in posing and posing routines. This continued until 2005, when I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer. That year was a bit of a blur for me, but I can happily say I survived, and life goes on. I still have so much more to do , I just hope I have time to fit everything in!!

I have been judging now for over 15 years State and National competitions, Which I guess follows on from my earlier years as a Dance Adjudicator. Classical Ballet teaching for 30 years, and a Dancer/Performer in many Musical Theatre shows. Choreographer of Fashion Parades, Musicals and all styles of dance for competitions. The passion, experience and knowledge of the stage and theatre has followed me to the Bodybuilding stage. I now coach Male and Female Bodybuilders in posing and presentation for competition.

Posture is very important to how you present your physique onstage, I really enjoy working with clients on this. Bikini and Fitness Model coaching is also on my agenda. Yes, I have studied Modeling in my early years too. I have put many years of research, theory and physical practice into what I do, so passing on my knowledge to new competitors is so easy for me, there are no secrets, I am happy to share as much information as I can to help those preparing for their journey to the stage as easy and enjoyable as possible.

So there you have it, my Gym life in a nutshell. I am happy and proud to be a part of the INBA, and hope to be for a few more years yet!
